Individual purpose and "seed as the stars"

Why we do things can sometimes take a back seat to the demands of what we're doing. Yet the "why," our purpose, influences the "what" and so can have a significant impact not only on us but on our world.

That world, many experts predict, faces a future of severe overcrowding. Indeed, overcrowding already exists in some parts of the globe, along with the famine, environmental degradation, and acute job shortages associated with it.

Individual purpose may seem far removed from this issue of overpopulation. Yet it's directly related. One impetus to rising birthrates in certain cultures is considered to be the valuing of male children above female. This practice says to women, Your purpose is to have sons.
