Facing up to fear

From The Christian Science Journal - December 23, 2013

There is a funny YouTube video of a little goat on a ledge. After several days, the local citizens decide he is too afraid to get down by himself, so they take action. As they climb up and get close to him, the goat scampers down easily on his own. He was always capable. A good outcome was always assured. He just had to be willing to face up to fear and act.

Facing up to a paralyzing fear requires commitment to a deeper understanding of the reality, presence, and reliability of God.

I’ve learned that facing up to a paralyzing fear requires commitment to a deeper and broader understanding of the reality, presence, and reliability of God. God is all good, always. He is all-protecting and all-acting. This broader concept of God has been unfolding for me through a consistent study of the Bible and its companion book in Christian Science, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
