Recently, someone asked a very simple and profound question: “Do you realize that we are the light of the world?”
It rocked my world at the time, causing me to think more deeply about the role Christian Scientists play in Jesus’ instructions to be that light.
I was encouraged to see that Mary Baker Eddy confirmed that we fulfill this role. She says: “A Christian Scientist occupies the place at this period of which Jesus spoke to his disciples, when he said: … ‘Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid’ ” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 367).
