Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

What is our responsibility?

To be responsible means to care for or to have control over something. When I feel burdened by responsibilities, I’ve learned to ask: Who or what is making the demand? Who is in control? Who provides the responsible care? And what is my role in all this?  Who or what is making the demand?  I find my way easier when I acknowledge that Truth, a Bible name for God, is all that legitimately makes demands on us.

Overcoming unreceptive thought

In telling The parable of the sower, Jesus says, “A sower went forth to sow; and when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up” ( Matthew 13:3, 4 ). He explains that this refers to those who do not understand God’s word, or to what may be called an unreceptive state of thought.

Me, a Christian Science practitioner?

Anyone who has taken Primary class instruction from an authorized teacher of Christian Science is equipped to give metaphysical treatment to those who may ask him or her for help through prayer. I know from past experience that we can expect healing to result from this treatment, because everyone is as perfect as God, our creator.

“The reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love”

The divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love are the very essence of Christian Science. Mary Baker Eddy discovered these laws through her study of the Bible and expounded them in her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

“One endless day”

The textbook of Christian Science, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, defines day as “the irradiance of Life; light, the spiritual idea of Truth and Love” (Mary Baker Eddy, p. 584 ).

Abiding in infinity

In a recent Netflix documentary titled A Trip to Infinity, mathematicians, physicists, and philosophers describe their search to understand and measure infinity, opining that measuring infinity with available material methods is impossible. For example, the concept of a line can be divided infinitely in theory, but a piece of rope cannot be divided infinitely, because matter is limited.

The quest for spiritual maturity

What is spiritual maturity, and why is it important for us as followers of Christ Jesus? The Bible tells us in Genesis 1 that man is made in the image and likeness of God and is “very good. ” Mary Baker Eddy elaborates in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: “Man is God’s reflection, needing no cultivation, but ever beautiful and complete” ( p.

An immanent Science

Looking to be a better healer? Then you’ll want to keep an eye out for articles like this one appearing periodically in the Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel , and The Herald of Christian Science.  Their aim: to correct some of the misconceptions about Christian Science that would keep us from having the results we so desire.

Rising above misinformation

The world seems ablaze with misinformation, especially relating to health, elections, economy, and war. Despite increased fact-checking efforts by journalists and independent agencies, instant access to information has proliferated opportunities to misguide, confuse, conspire, and contrive false realities to justify past or future actions.

The tenets of Christian Science: Holding things together

When I graduated from the Christian Science Sunday School and began attending church services, I wondered why, on Sacrament Sunday, the order of services was different. Why were the tenets incorporated into Sacrament Sunday? Why are they important to church members today? When I was faced with a severe challenge some years later, I set out to learn more about the tenets and discovered that our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, mentions them numerous times in the Manual of The Mother Church.
