Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

Freedom from the subtle influences of spiritualism

Seeking wisdom from the departed was quite fashionable in the 19th century. People would go to a medium to have a séance, in which it was believed the spirit of someone who had passed on could be called up, to communicate with them and offer advice.

Connected with God

Almost anyone who has a computer will certainly have seen this instruction at least once when downloading and installing updates: “Please keep your computer on. ” These updates ensure protection against viruses by closing potential security gaps in the software, and they improve the functioning of applications.

The immutability of spiritual reality

“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so” (Shakespeare). I first read this quote on an opening page of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.

Looking to be a better healer? Then you’ll want to keep an eye out for articles like this one, appearing periodically in the Journal,  the Christian Science Sentinel,  and The Herald of Christian Science.  Their aim: to correct some of the misconceptions about Christian Science that would keep us from having the results we so desire.

Focus on what is, not “what if?”

In and of themselves, what and if are innocuous words. But paired together, they can twist thought into worry, fear, or regret.

Putting Truth on record

Christ Jesus put on record the healing power of God, divine Truth, for the world’s benefit. He did this by teaching and demonstrating the power of Truth, freeing humanity from limitations, discords, and diseases.

Overcoming self-doubt in the public practice

After I graduated from college and began my professional career, I was given a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel. I didn’t know anything about Christian Science at the time.

At the end of 1894 , Mary Baker Eddy made a radical and unique decision about the church she had founded. She established that two books, the Bible and her Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, would serve as the church’s pastor, and that Bible Lessons drawn solely from these two books would constitute its sermons.

“Yea, Lord”

Before healing two men of blindness, Jesus asked them: “Believe ye that I am able to do this?” They answered affirmatively: “Yea, Lord” (see Matthew 9:28 ).   Spiritual insight into these two words “Yea” and “Lord” has strengthened my practice of Christian Science healing.

Divine Love lifted us up

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God” ( Psalms 20:7 ). I love this passage from the Bible.
