Probably all of us have opened the door of a welcoming household at some time in our lives and have suddenly felt the balm of hospitality and affection in that friendly atmosphere. No condemnation greeted us there, but only understanding and approval that made us feel that we had found a heaven of refuge and peace.
The use of vitamins to supplement and balance the food which is prepared for men, animals, and plants has grown to large proportions. It is almost impossible to read a newspaper or listen to the radio without having the subject thrust upon one's attention.
Members of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, are called upon to keep Christian fellowship one with another. They do so in obedience to Article XI, Section 3 , of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, which, under the caption "Violation of Christian Fellowship," reads, "Any member who shall unjustly aggrieve or vilify the Pastor Emeritus or another member, or who does not live in Christian fellowship with members who are in good and regular standing with this Church, shall either withdraw from the Church or be excommunicated.
Christian Science is a religion of joy. It proclaims to all men that the presence and power of the Christ are ever available to take away all the world's ills, and to establish the kingdom of heaven in human consciousness.

In a message to The Mother Church in 1899 Mary Baker Eddy writes as follows: "Brethren, our annual meeting is a grave guardian. It requires you to report progress, to refresh memory, to rejuvenate the branches and to vivify the buds, to bend upward the tendrils and to incline the vine towards the parent trunk" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p.
Someone has defined the meaning of the word "parable" as "an earthly story with a heavenly meaning," and probably every student of Christian Science would agree with this definition. We remember, for instance, our Master's parable of the leaven as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew ( 13:33 ): "The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
