Letters & Conversations
All-inclusive love I was startled to read the August Journal’ s interview with Bettie B. Thompson regarding Christian Science churches and segregation of the black community.
Thinking rightly I felt compelled to express my appreciation for the July 2013 issue of the Journal. There are three pieces that really spoke to me about subjects that I have “wrestled” with over the years.
Truly helpful I have read and reread Barbara Vining’s feature article, “ Understand, be firm, and yield! ” in the July issue of the Journal. It is so true and truly helpful.
‘Perfection in every detail’ Thank you for the excellent format, design, and printing of the Journal. Content is key, but I also appreciate the quality paper stock.
Expanded view of soul Will you please express my sincere gratitude to Scott Putnam for his article “ The harmony of Soul ” in the May Journal? After subscribing I came across this previously unfamiliar sentence by Mary Baker Eddy in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany: “My desire is that every Christian Scientist, and as many others as possible, subscribe for and read our daily newspaper” ( p.
‘Love it!’ I have been a subscriber of the periodicals since the fall of 1959. I just have to tell you how much I love the new size of the Journal.
Readers respond to the Journal’ s redesign I love the newly designed Journal —very professional. In the interest of readability, however, many readers are telling me that they are having trouble reading it because the print is too light (it is considerably lighter than it was before the redesign).
Overwhelmed no more For about a year, I had some problems with reading all the issues of the Journal, the Sentinel, and the French edition of The Herald of Christian Science. I felt overwhelmed by this mountain of magazines.
