Letters & Conversations
Inspiring biography [Continuing the Conversation, Tony Lobl, “ The ultimate life story, now searchable online ,” Journal, September 2020] What an opportunity to read this very inspiring biography of Mary Baker Eddy. I have heard many Christian Science lecturers refer to it.
Our own angels [Ruth Geyer, “ Wrestle the angel ,” Journal, August 2020] This article gives such a special and relatable meaning to Jacob’s experience with his angel. I appreciate the reminder that we each have our own angels ready to bless.
Lovely article [Betty Lynn Evans, “ Happily writing for the Christian Science periodicals ,” Journal, July 2020] What a lovely article! I especially liked her reference to Mary Baker Eddy’s directive in Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896: “They should take our magazine, work for it, write for it, and read it” ( p. 271 ).
Lovely poem [Wanda Richard, “ Happy are they … ,” Journal, June 2020] What a lovely poem! Not only is the poetry excellent, but also the content is so helpful in explaining the Beatitudes. I will keep this poem in my “granary” (where I accumulate grains of truth that I find in my reading).
Great lessons [Susanne Van Eyl, “ Accept and claim God’s unlimited goodness ,” Journal, May 2020] I really enjoyed this article. It made clear all sides of the story of the prodigal son—the father’s, the older brother’s, and of course, the prodigal’s.
Excellent Article [Carlos A. Machado, “ Keep the doors open ,” Journal, March 2020] This was excellent.
Clearly explained [Sue Martin, “ No more cancer ,” Journal, March 2020] I can’t thank you enough for the publication of this wonderful testimony. The step-by-step progress in this healing experience is so clearly explained and inspiring.
A real support [Cindy Martin, “ Quieting destructive winds and catastrophic wildfires ,” Journal, January 2020] As we are facing so many wildfires in Australia presently, this article is a wonderful treatment for when forces seem so out of control, and it has been a real support in my own prayers. It helped me address the many issues relating to a wildfire situation.
Plans to share [Ingrid Peschke, “ The light of the Christ can’t be hidden ,” Journal, December 2019] Thank you for this lovely article. I always know I am reading something special to me when I start thinking, “Oh, who should I be sharing this with?” This article certainly meets that criterion, and I plan to start sharing! Better understanding [Edwina Aubin, “ Gratitude—a doorway to good, God ,” Journal, November 2019] This article was very helpful in gaining a better understanding or perspective as to the purpose for and importance of the expression of gratitude. It really spoke to me about the need for appreciating the good that already exists, even if we don’t see it at the time.
