Letters & Conversations

Letters to the Journal from our readers. Opinions expressed in this column are not necessarily those of The Christian Science Journal.

Letters

A blessing [Steve Warren, “ The God who sees me ,” Journal, November 2020] This article is truly a blessing. All problems are from ignorance of God and of our relationship to Him.

Letters

Powerful article [Jürgen Kurt Stark, “ Spirituality: The essential basis of morality ,” Journal, October 2020] Wow! What a powerful article! A treatment for mankind and the world. I’m so grateful for the depth of the author’s understanding expressed in this article.

Letters

Inspiring biography [Continuing the Conversation, Tony Lobl, “ The ultimate life story, now searchable online ,” Journal, September 2020] What an opportunity to read this very inspiring biography of Mary Baker Eddy. I have heard many Christian Science lecturers refer to it.

Letters

Our own angels [Ruth Geyer, “ Wrestle the angel ,” Journal, August 2020] This article gives such a special and relatable meaning to Jacob’s experience with his angel. I appreciate the reminder that we each have our own angels ready to bless.

Letters

Lovely article [Betty Lynn Evans, “ Happily writing for the Christian Science periodicals ,” Journal, July 2020] What a lovely article! I especially liked her reference to Mary Baker Eddy’s directive in Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896: “They should take our magazine, work for it, write for it, and read it” ( p. 271 ).

Letters

Lovely poem [Wanda Richard, “ Happy are they … ,” Journal, June 2020] What a lovely poem! Not only is the poetry excellent, but also the content is so helpful in explaining the Beatitudes. I will keep this poem in my “granary” (where I accumulate grains of truth that I find in my reading).

Readers respond

Great lessons [Susanne Van Eyl, “ Accept and claim God’s unlimited goodness ,” Journal, May 2020] I really enjoyed this article. It made clear all sides of the story of the prodigal son—the father’s, the older brother’s, and of course, the prodigal’s.

Letters

Excellent Article [Carlos A. Machado, “ Keep the doors open ,” Journal, March 2020] This was excellent.

Letters

Clearly explained [Sue Martin, “ No more cancer ,” Journal, March 2020] I can’t thank you enough for the publication of this wonderful testimony. The step-by-step progress in this healing experience is so clearly explained and inspiring.

Letters

A real support [Cindy Martin, “ Quieting destructive winds and catastrophic wildfires ,” Journal, January 2020] As we are facing so many wildfires in Australia presently, this article is a wonderful treatment for when forces seem so out of control, and it has been a real support in my own prayers. It helped me address the many issues relating to a wildfire situation.
