HE SPOKE THE WORD

When the eager people came To see the holy man Who showed to all the living truth, As only inspiration can, Lo, his potent precepts touched The seeker's inmost soul, And those who heard in honest faith Became, with joy, both strong and whole. Friends drew near with one who lay In fettered helplessness, To feel that tender ministry And prove its sovereignty to bless.

OH, FEAR THOU NOT!

Oh , fear thou not! Oh, trust God's goodness Trust His tender, loving care! Oh, doubt not that His love enfolds thee, And now, with joy, receive thy share; Receive thy share—then share it gladly; Stint not, nor limit Love's supply. Yea, share with all alike Truth's blessings; God's goodness is forever nigh.

PRAYER FOR A CHILD

Take him lightly by the hand, Raise him up that he may stand Firmly, free and unafraid. In the great uncharted sphere Newly opened to his eyes Let Thy goodness now appear, Infinite, divinely wise.

TODAY

I need not fear to face whate'er I meet— The briared path that clutches at my feet. Serene and safe, I pass beneath His rod.

THE READING ROOM

Here in this quiet room a peace descends, Soft as the touch upon that fevered brow In Peter's house. No sudden sharp fear rends This friendly solitude, no doubts allow Marauding entrance to the claims of sense; But there is harmony, and sweet surcease From troubled thought, and a clear consciousness That God is here, establishing His peace.

LOVE IMPARTS PEACE

How often have the healing words, "Fear not: For I am with thee," brought to troubled hearts The proof that God is here, and given men The peace and promised strength that Love imparts! God's angels, ever near to bless and heal, Are heard by those who seek the Father's way; Who rise above the mortal sense of life And steadfastly the law of Love obey.

"THY WILL BE DONE"

"' Thy will be done,' O Love divine," I pray When anxious care would steal my peace away; And then my thought is still— Quiet and tranquil like a limpid lake, Where brown-eyed kine bend low their thirst to slake, And sunbeams play at will. When at life's crossroads I bewildered stand, "Thy will be done," I pray, and take Thy hand, And walk by faith; nor height, Nor depth, can harm me; fearlessly I go Through rugged paths, night-shadowed, for I know Thy hand will lead to light.

QUIETNESS

"The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. "— Philippians 4:7.

COME, LABORERS

Behold, the world is filled with golden grain, But in God's work the laborers are few. Why all this idleness, and lack, and fear? There's work for each and every one to do.

IMPARTIAL LOVE

The Love divine that meets my need today Is boundless, knowing neither time nor place, And big enough to heal the whole world's woe; For Love, impartial, points the loving way! And all who walk with Love, triumphant go, With radiant peace reflected in each face.
