A BROTHER'S NEED

In ancient times a love unselfed, replete, Inspired their hearts who bore the helpless one Through crowded lanes, aglare with tropic sun, That they might lay him at the Master's feet. Though ever-widening throngs debarred the door, They gained the roof top, then so tenderly Let down the couch, and heard that blest decree: Arise, be whole! Depart, and sin no more.

THE READING ROOM

Here in this quiet room a feast is spread; Here living waters are, and Life's own bread. The Word of God, is found for all unsealed.

"LOVE ONE ANOTHER"

" Love one another. " These words, ablaze with glorious light, Shine forth through darkened labyrinths of fear, Demanding demonstration of God's might.

She planted food for all the thinking world: Her words are seeds imbued with growing power; Their fragrant blooms are mentally unfurled, Their fruit is ripened in a thoughtful hour. She took these seeds from words the Master spoke, That those who have so long in hunger cried May eat the bread that he once freely broke, And find their longing amply satisfied.

REVELATION

I never knew what Love could be Until God was revealed to me, And in this oneness I did find That Love is Spirit, Life, and Mind; That Love is Principle and Soul, Is Truth revealing man as whole, As perfect as the Father is, Divinely blessed, forever His.

SECURITY

"And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

SINCERITY

O Love divine, when shall we be In firm obedience held, Not turned aside by falsity, Nor by ill-will compelled? May we have motives pure and kind True health and peace to win, Not vaguely wandering like the blind With no bright hope within. Reveal to us the shining face Of mercy that forgives, Whereby our lives may grow in grace With all that loves and lives.

NEW YEAR IN THE HEART

Ring , golden bells, in every mart, Ring for the gladness in each heart That has put off another part Of error, and has found the art Of quiet acceptance of the new, Rejoicing in a clearer view Of Truth; for good alone is power, And must blot out the evil hour That speaks of tyranny's mad reign Of terror, and aggressive gain. Ring out all fear, for better sight Is showing men eternal right; Ring out all hatred born of night, Ring in the truth, the perfect light, Revealing all-inclusive Mind, The healer of the halt and blind, As Love, the All-in-all, supreme, Annulling mankind's evil dream Of tumult, hatred, fear, and strife; For Love fulfills the law of Life.

REGENERATION

How bleak the desert places lie! No spear of green nor dew-fringed flower Beneath the bright bowl of the sky To bless a single burning hour! 'Twas thus my heart unfruitful lay, A wilderness, a barren land, Until I found the Truth, the Way— Until I took my Father's hand. His tender mercies lead me where The grass of meekness, wet with dew, Now clothes the earth in pastures fair, And leaves of healing bloom anew.
