NEW YEAR IN THE HEART

From the January 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Ring, golden bells, in every mart,
Ring for the gladness in each heart
That has put off another part
Of error, and has found the art
Of quiet acceptance of the new,
Rejoicing in a clearer view
Of Truth; for good alone is power,
And must blot out the evil hour
That speaks of tyranny's mad reign
Of terror, and aggressive gain.

Ring out all fear, for better sight
Is showing men eternal right;
Ring out all hatred born of night,
Ring in the truth, the perfect light,
Revealing all-inclusive Mind,
The healer of the halt and blind,
As Love, the All-in-all, supreme,
Annulling mankind's evil dream
Of tumult, hatred, fear, and strife;
For Love fulfills the law of Life.
