FINDING ONE'S RIGHT PLACE

From the January 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Our great Master and Way-shower, Christ Jesus, tells us, "What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." This lucid statement of the correct modus operandi of prayer, spiritually interpreted by the understanding gained through the study of Christian Science, plainly shows us what we must "believe" in regard to the solving of any problem.

When there is a need for a more harmonious position or location, we may turn to the scientific thought of perfect God, perfect man, perfect universe. Right is; God is All now, and ever shall be. This does not mean that we may humanly outline just what we think is right, and how it is to be manifested. On the contrary, prayer in Christian Science is the denying of that which is unlike Spirit, God, and the claiming of that which is spiritually true. That which is true, is true now. Material catagories do not enter into the practice of Christian Science. The phantasma of mortal mind is no part of spiritual realization. It is Truth that is to be demonstrated, and Truth is true now.

To show forth or demonstrate the truth of perfect God, perfect man, perfect universe, one must know that God has created man in His own image and likeness, complete, whole, perfect; that His work is done and exists now. John declared, "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." Assuredly, if the human father gives good to his beloved son, does not our heavenly Father bestow abundant supply, harmony, happiness, all good? In other words, a better understanding of man as the son of God results in a clearer realization of our relationship to God and all that God as Father-Mother includes.
