"THY SINS BE FORGIVEN THEE"

From the January 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There is no claim of the material senses, whether of sin or sickness, that cannot be overcome through the teaching of Christian Science. Jesus said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Christian Science brings this comforting promise into present experience, because it teaches that in coming to the Christ we forsake the unreal beliefs of matter for the grand reality that man is and always has been spiritual, unfallen, free.

It does not matter how binding may have seemed the shackles of sin, how long they may have claimed power, nor how bitterly the carnal mind may have raged. It does not matter how hopeless may have seemed a so-called incurable disease. The teaching of Christ Jesus, as elucidated by Mary Baker Eddy, brings healing and joy to replace suffering and misery.

On page 339 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," our Leader has written, "The basis of all health, sinlessness, and immortality is the great fact that God is the only Mind; and this Mind must be not merely believed, but it must be understood."
