SECURITY

From the January 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha."—II Kings 6:17.

Still, as of old, the invocation stands:
Open our eyes, 0 Lord, that we may see
Beyond the tyrant host, throughout the lands,
Love's universal law of liberty.

This very hour Truth's chariots of fire
And horses radiant with supernal life
Are formed around the weary ones who tire
Of error's legion woes and legion strife.

So let us dwell, as once Elisha dwelt.
Calm on the ageless heights of purity.
So may we feel, as he who served him felt,
The sweet assurance of security.
