TODAY

From the April 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I need not fear to face whate'er I meet—
The briared path that clutches at my feet.
Serene and safe, I pass beneath His rod.
Today belongs to God.

Then only good this day may truly know.
In trust and faith, with happy heart I go,
Knowing there's nought around, beneath, above,
But all encircling Love.

The lies of sense that would my thought enthrall,
And tempt me to forget that Truth is All,
Cannot deceive, or fill my day with fear,
For Truth alone is here.

Free, joyous, unafraid, I take my way.
From all-inclusive Life I cannot stray.
Life's harmony and presence still all strife,
For God alone is Life.

Preserved of Life, Truth, Love, blest trinity,
I rest secure in God's infinity.
Today, I cannot lack or be defiled;
I know I am God's child.
