The life and works of Christ Jesus exemplified divine energy as applied in human experience. Knowing that the divine power of God, Mind, Spirit, Soul, could be manifested only in perfect healing and redemptive work, Jesus, by his complete reliance on God, was enabled to perform the many wonderful healings recorded of him in the Gospels. So great was his understanding of the omnipotence of God that he said of himself, "I can of mine own self do nothing," and, "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."
For centuries it was believed that the divine energy thus expressed in healing works belonged exclusively to the age in which Jesus lived, but today, through the teachings of Christian Science, it is again being made available and proved to have lost none of its efficacy. How could omnipotence be lost or confined to a special period?
Divine energy is expressed in human experience far more frequently than is generally acknowledged or understood. Have not many, at some time or other, asked themselves how they can express more of good in their daily lives? This very desire to do something useful, helpful, kind, loving, and worth while is the expression of good or divine energy, because it comes from God. Thus, beginning with the desire to do good, we learn that divine energy is manifested in our human experience whenever by word or deed we express divine Love. To be aware of this and to feel that we are expressing good in doing some loving task, however simple and humble it may be, brings the assurance of success, of joy and peace, and a sense of oneness with our heavenly Father.
