OUR CHRISTIAN SCIENCE LECTURES

From the April 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Among the first missionaries who carried the message of Christianity to mankind were the seventy disciples whom Jesus appointed to preach the gospel of Christianity and heal the sick. So successful were these messengers of Truth that they returned to Jesus "with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name." To this the Master responded, "Rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven."

When Jesus advised his disciples to rejoice that their names were written in heaven, he indicated to them the great fact that man is the perfect expression of the one perfect Mind. In proof of this fact, they had cast out devils and healed the sick. In some cases the word "name" signifies authority. The disciples went with the authority of the Christ, doing the mighty works which their Master did through the recognition and proof of his sonship with God.

Today we find the same healing power manifested in all our church activities, including the Christian Science lectures. Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has given to the world the scientific statement and proof of man's sonship with God. The Christian Science lecturers, rejoicing in the present-day demonstration of Truth, go into the cities and villages of the world, proclaiming this Science of Christianity, and "with signs following."
