'...and the Word was God.'

The word God is such a tiny simple word, and yet if we think of all it implies, the immensity of what we behold is so tremendous that we stand in awe at what we see. I certainly stood in awe when I found myself in a life-threatening situation one extremely cold, dark winter’s evening.

Church: A daily activity

Every Sunday morning, I get ready and rush to beat the traffic in Nairobi to attend the weekly service at my branch Church of Christ, Scientist. When I arrive there, we all sit together as we wait for the Readers to share the Christian Science Lesson-Sermon with the congregation.

At a time when news reports still refer regularly to the worldwide “credit crunch,” I’ve been remembering the many times in my own experience when challenging situations have been overcome by applying the truths taught in Christian Science. Integrity uncompromised

Have you ever been about to do something really exciting for the first time ever, and suddenly the wind was taken out of your sails? Some years ago, I was to compete in my first martial arts tournament. Upon entering the venue, amongst a bustling crowd, I found my sensei (instructor) leaving.

Our sole Parent

A few years ago, I was awake in the wee hours of the night struggling with sadness, fear, and guilt about my family. After a divorce and rearing three children on my own, I was challenged with extreme prodigal behavior, financial distress, and other woes associated with single parenthood.
