Country Doctor (to Tomkins)—"Now, with regard to that cut on the top of your head, I don't think it will be serious; but you must keep your eye on it." And Tomkins, who has the slightest suspicion of a squint, goes away and dis-recommends that doctor.—

The Literary World says that Mr. Darwin is about to write the life of his grandfather; but of what order and species he was, we have not yet been informed.

Success is obtained by mixing two parts of common sense with three parts of will, and stirring both in the bowl of ambition, with the spoon of perseverance.
