REV. DR. HEACOOK

From the March 1886 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Reviews Science and Health, in an essay first read at the regular Preachers' Meeting in San Francisco, and then published in a religious newspaper there. The Doctor leaves sundry bars down, and is apparently afraid to follow the New Testament to its logical conclusions. Let us have Phare Pleigh!

The Evangelical Sunday-schools have lately been discussing the preservation of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace. In none of the religious newspaper words about the lesson, do we find any hint that this salvation was in accordance with the natural law of the Spirit, which all may achieve. On the contrary, they regard the safety of these three men as wholly owing to the miraculous interference of God at that special time.

Christian Science believes the record; but believes also the word of Jesus, that greater signs shall follow, and that God is as ready to save to-day as he was two-thousand-five-hundred years ago.
