Poems

A Prayer

From the May 1886 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Oh Abba, Father, hear us as we pray;
Guard, guide, and keep us in the narrow way.
Oh, Love Eternal, listen to our call,
And on us let Thy Holy Spirit fall.

And oh reveal Thyself to us below,
That we Thy voice may always hear and know;
And may Thy Spirit's light our beacon be,
Lighting our path through all Eternity.

Help us to understand that God is Mind,
And we must search in thought, would we Thee
find.
When Thou dost speak, we'll answer to Thy
call,
And with our Mind will crown Thee Lord of All.

May every error be destroyed by Truth,
Until we reach that glorious second birth,
When, freed from each belief that proves a
snare,
We praise Thee, Lord, that Thou hast an
swered prayer.

No action can be considered blameless unless the will was so, for by the will the act was dictated.
