Letters

From the May 1886 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Dear Journal: Hoping my experience may profit some brother or sister seeking Truth, I gladly give it. Over two years ago I heard of Christian Science, and applied for treatment to one highly recommended. I obtained some relief, and at once studied, believing the teacher to be an honest practitioner of its precepts. Having determined to devote my life to this blessed work, I labored hard and earnestly to be well, and to make others so. Having bought Science and Health, I found no guidance outside this book. I fully realize now that through it, notwithstanding the false teaching I had elsewhere received, I was enabled to hold to Truth.

Finally, after long and fruitless endeavors to make the Life and words harmonize, of the one who was consciously misleading me, I determined to break from Mind-cure and Mesmerism, and apply for help to a student in good standing at the College, and to abide by Mrs. Eddy's warning, to find one who had a certificate testifying to her position. I did so, and commenced again. This time I studied Sin-healing, or the real Christian Healing, and rejoice to say that I am well, and can demonstrate, both in myself and others, the power of Love over hatred.

If those who are weary with the husks would only turn to the faithful followers of Good, how quickly the clouds and fog would lift, and the way be blessed and bright. Won't you come and be fed?
