For some time it has seemed clear to me that I might be able to help some one by giving an account of the benefits I have derived from Christian Science. I was for eighteen months troubled with a constant hacking cough, much expectoration, throat and lung trouble, short breathing, as well as asthma. I had the advice of three of the best doctors I knew, two of whom were specialists for the throat and lungs; it was their opinion that I was going into consumption, and that I could not continue to live in this climate. I was then about to go into a hospital which prescribed open air treatment for consumptives.
At this time I heard of Christian Science for the first time from a Scientist in New Zealand. I commenced treatment with little or no faith. After about three days, I felt an assurance that I was better; this brought about the faith as Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings," p. 33. It seemed very wonderful and gave me more desire to know something of Christian Science, and with the help of my practitioner, who had been very patient in helping me to find the light and truth that make free, I was healed after a very short time considering the long suffering I had endured. Soon after, however, an ailment of a different nature made its appearance, and for eight months it kept troubling me. I again asked for treatment and after three days I was free from suffering and the trouble had entirely disappeared. Both of these cases were treated absently.
With my healing has come that "Peace of God which passeth all understanding." I have perfect trust in the infinite love of God, and I thank God for our Leader, Mary Baker G. Eddy. Truly, the harmony of "Lo, I am with you alway" is joy unspeakable.
