At the regular mid-week testimony meeting of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Concord, last evening, public announcement was made of the purpose to proceed at once with the erection of a new church edifice for which provision has long been made through the generosity of the Rev. Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.

The new church will be built of Concord granite and will occupy the commanding site at the corner of State and School Streets, where Christian Science Hall now stands. It will be a striking addition to the notable group of public buildings in that immediate portion of the city, and the expenditure of the large sum of money ($ 100,000) set aside for its construction will be a great boon to Concord industries.

This is the consummation of the purpose which has long been in Mrs. Eddy's mind to have the church of her faith in her home city adequately housed, public announcement of which was made in this paper as long ago as March 19, 1898, when, in answer to an inquiry by the editor of the Monitor, she wrote:—
