Testimonies of Healing

It is with a heart full of gratitude to God for all Christian Science...

From the January 1907 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with a heart full of gratitude to God for all Christian Science has done for me, that I give this account of my experiences before I was healed. I was afflicted from childhood with ill health, and for over twenty years had suffered with almost every disease that could be thought of. In my seventeenth year I had a severe rheumatic trouble, which gradually grew worse. Shortly after this I was married, and we moved to a farm, where there is always hard work to do. As the result of an accident I was compelled to call a doctor, who said I had injured my left side and that I must have perfect rest. Even with the best of care I was never free from suffering, and an abnormal growth began to manifest itself. We then moved to Berlin, Ont. During these years the old trouble was growing worse, and the physicians said it was of a most serious nature. I had the best of medical care, and went through a number of operations, but instead of getting better, I seemed to be worse. I had always prayed that I might be well again, but my prayers were not then answered. I also had heart trouble, which made me so weak that the physicians would no longer give me medicine, but advised other means when the worst attacks came on. Because of another trouble, at times it seemed impossible for me to walk. With increasing illness I felt certain there was no God, for He surely would not allow me to suffer so. Besides all the rest, a supposedly dangerous disease appeared on my face.

At this time, when I was in the midst of my suffering, I heard of Christian Science. Through the reading of the text-book, attending the church services, and studying the weekly Lessons, I was almost entirely healed in a short time. About a year after I became interested in Christian Science we moved to Vancouver, B. C, and after almost seven years devoted to the study of the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I can say that I am to-day perfectly well. I can now attend to my household duties better than ever before. Last summer I had the great pleasure of attending the dedication of The Mother Church, in Boston, and while there met a friend who had known me when I first became interested in Christian Science. This lady commented upon my wonderfully improved appearance. Words cannot express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me. Nearly all the members of our family have been healed of some disease, and nearly all are interested in the teachings of Christian Science.—
