In all nature is no death at all,
As men account of death, so long as God
Stands witnessing for life perpetually,
By being just God.
Mrs. Browning
The most striking and succinct statement of our Lord's teaching, and of its significance to mankind, is found in his own words, when he said, "He that believeth on me hath everlasting life ;" and this thought of life in Christ, which Jesus so frequently expressed and which he said those who received him were to embody, runs like a dominant chord through the entire Galilean symphony. John witnessed to his apprehension of this life-message of the Master when he wrote, "The Light was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness and declare unto you the Life of the ages, which was with the Father, and was manifested to us" (Weymouth's translation).
