LOVE

From the October 1908 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Not for the love that this world gives,
Do I now pray,
Not for the love that only lives
Just for a day.

The love divine I seek is giv'n
Of God above.
And brings the joy and peace of heav'n,
For God is Love.

The love that thinks no wicked thing,
That love is pure;
The love that makes the sad ones sing,
That love is sure,—

The immanent, pervading love
That maketh wise
As serpents, gentle as the dove,
And lights mine eyes.

Where love is, there our God doth dwell,
And peace is found;
And thus I shall Love's praises tell,
Beyond time's bound!
