From early childhood until about four years ago I was in poor health. At that time my condition had become so serious that my family and physician had little hope of my recovery. After numerous consultations it was decided that I must be operated upon for five different ailments; although the family physician expressed to my husband grave doubts as to my even surviving the anesthetic, and said that if I did it would be many months before I could hope to be well.
It was at this time, in our great anxiety and extremity, that Christian Science was recommended to us by friends; and we turned to it, willing to give it a fair trial. With the aid of a kind practitioner I began to improve immediately. As an indirect result of the first treatment an eye trouble was healed, and I was able to dispense with glasses which I had worn most of the time for fifteen years. I had been kept for months upon a very limited diet, so it was with a feeling of joy and encouragement that I found I could eat anything I desired, and as much as I wanted, with no ill effects. In a comparatively short time the healing of gall-stones, kidney and bowel trouble, as well as the other difficulties for which surgical operations had been prescribed, was effected.
The physical healing seems very wonderful to me, and I know that nothing but the power of God could have accomplished it. I have received countless blessings through Christian Science, and am praying daily to have that Mind in me "which was also in Christ Jesus," that I too may be able to heal the sick and do the works which our Master bade us do. I am most grateful to our beloved Leader, and to all who have helped me to gain an understanding of the truth revealed through Christian Science.
