For five years I suffered from an abdominal complaint. I was treated by seven physicians, and had used all kinds of remedies, but the awful pain did not grow less. Then an operation was performed which seemed to bring relief, but a few weeks later the pain again grew so severe that I was unable to do any kind of work., I again underwent medical treatment, and one year later I had another and much more serious operation performed. After a very short while the old trouble returned, and in spite of all the remedies which the physician prescribed it grew worse all the time, so much so that I was unable to walk. The physician then said that I would not get well under this kind of treatment, and that I must submit once more to an operation, which this time would be very serious. He said that only in this way could the severe uterine complaint, as well as the numerous internal growths, he done away with, whereby alone I could regain my health.
I was very much afraid at the thought of having to go through this operation, as I was convinced that I should not live through it, but three days before the time appointed, I heard of Christian Science, and I cannot describe the feeling of joy which I experienced; not that I intended to take treatment at once, but I was glad at the very thought of not having to submit to the operation. I then heard that Christian Science meetings took place once a week, and I attended the same as often as I could. I did not then understand much of what was being said, but the fact that I was occupied in thought with what I had heard in those meetings made me forget both the physicians and the remedies. I sent in my name for treatment, but had to wait seven months until I could be received. When I first went to a practitioner I was very doubtful as to my recovery, but when after three treatments I was able to step firmly, I was fully confident that I should regain complete health. With five weeks' treatment I was absolutely well.
Nine years have gone by since I was treated, and during this time I have been able to perform any kind of work I cannot be grateful enough for Christian Science.
