I feel that I have been tardy in acknowledging all that Christian Science has done for me. Until the last seven years, I was a sufferer from asthma in its most difficult form. Every kind of material treatment had been tried, but with no lasting good. As time went on the trouble increased and brought the most distressing effects in its train. I was shattered in mind and body, and my outlook in life was of almost Egyptian darkness. Christian Science was then brought to me by a very loving friend of my girlhood, who knew all about my suffering. She is a Christian Science practitioner, and I put myself under her care. Although we had not met for years and I knew little or nothing about Christian Science, I had complete trust in my friend, and it was not very long before I felt that 1 had cast my net "on the right side," and that I had taken hold of something that I must hold fast.
Very soon the enemy became less and less evident, and my general health improved so much that my friends frequently remarked upon the change. Now I am well, and although I had other troubles which came in the train of the so-called asthma, they have all been overcome by the truth. Instead of being a woman who lived constantly in dread of illness, I am perfectly free, more active in my movements than I was when much younger; altogether, I am a new woman. The fear of climate has been overcome; last summer I was able to have a good holiday near the sea, whereas before I dared not go there, or if I went had to return at once.
For all the blessings I have received in Christian Science I am thankful to God, and I have gained a clearer sense of man's relation to Him through the revelations of Truth given us by our much loved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
