Testimonies of Healing

We have been so much benefited by reading the testimonies...

From the November 1910 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We have been so much benefited by reading the testimonies published in our periodicals, that perhaps some one, hungering for the truth as I was, may be helped by reading of our joy in Christian Science. My son bad witnessed my instantaneous healing, through the application of the truth, in a well advanced case of a throat affection (after having cared for me previously, in an attack of four weeks' duration, at which time the throat had to be lanced); but, as he was then in good health, he thought there was no need to look into it for himself.

When he was taken with an aggravated attack of rheumatism, he asked for the family physician, who called regularly for twelve days. The doctor frankly admitted that he had tried every remedy known to his profession, and that we should have to he patient, and let the disease wear itself out. He added that he feared my son would have to make a change in his business, as having his hands in chemicals and cold water nearly all the time was probably the cause of his trouble, and he would likely suffer so long as he remained in his present employment. This was God's opportunity, for it had taken years for my son to acquire his business knowledge, and he was devoted to his work.

Help was asked by him from a Christian Science practitioner, and he was instantly healed, going to his work in the rain the next day. In the four years since then, until a few months ago, he has had no return of the trouble. In the mean time, we had moved from Chicago to Los Angeles, Cal., and had been here but a few weeks when the old difficulty came back with great pain, and bringing fear to our sense, as we were strangers here. After four days of suffering we asked for help; but as the suffering was not quickly met, we telegraphed to our practitioner in Chicago. In two hours our answer came, in a cessation of pain, the fever all gone, and the next day only a little stiffness remained to remind him of the experience.
