From the July 1910 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with a grateful heart that I testify to the great blessings which have come to me and which I am still experiencing through Christian Science. Since early childhood I had suffered severely with headaches and facial neuralgia, which appeared almost every week and often would last for several days, causing me great distress. I was said to have inherited this trouble, and although in the course of years I applied various remedies, even resorting to hypodermic injections, no physician was able to help me.

In the spring of the year 1903 I first heard of Christian Science, and although I did not seem to gain an understanding of this teaching, I took such interest in it that I decided to stop a few hours in Berlin on my way through that city, in order to call on a Christian Science practitioner and to be informed on the subject. In spite of my opposing view-point our interview, which lasted nearly two hours, ended with my asking the practitioner to give me treatment immediately; and I left her a convinced adherent of Christian Science, with a sense of happiness and gratitude. I had asked her for absent treatment, and was soon able to inform her of my healing, which evidently was complete, as the pain had not reappeared after the first treatment and all the circumstances which seemed to occasion it had lost their influence.

Through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and the other writings of Mrs. Eddy, as well as through the reading of Der Herald, the Sentinel, and the Journal, I have gained more and more understanding of Christian Science, and neuralgia, rheumatism, also bladder trouble, have disappeared without special treatment. This latter disease, the physician had told me, was incurable in advanced age. During all these years we have had no physician in our home; and although my relatives are not yet convinced of the truth of Christian Science, they have let me help them in cases of sickness.
