In gratitude for Christian Science, I offer this testimonial,...

From the August 1910 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In gratitude for Christian Science, I offer this testimonial, hoping it may help others. For more than forty years I suffered from disease; slight at first, but increasing as time went on, until about five years ago, when the end seemed near. During these years I tried many physicians, sometimes going to hospitals for the benefit of their combined efforts; but all to no avail. After coming out of the hospital the last time, I said I would never try medicine again, for it always did me more harm than good, and T believed there was no human help for me. Then my family, feeling they could not see me die without another effort to obtain help, sent me to Colorado Springs, where I had a son living; but for two weeks I grew rapidly worse. My son called in physicians, but I had reached the point where I could not retain even a spoonful of water, and my earthly life seemed to be numbered by hours.

In utter despair, my son and his wife said, "What shall we do?" Friends said, "Ask a Christian Scientist to see her." They did so; and the one who came assured us that God could heal me at once. After spending an hour with me, she asked them to prepare something for me to eat, telling me it would not hurt me,—that I could eat whatever I wanted. Fear had given place to a wonderful realization of God's power and presence, and I found I was healed. I have never had any return of the trouble; in fact, although I am well along in years, I have splendid health. Christian Science is my constant guide, and I try to express my gratitude by my daily life.
