It is with deepest gratitude that I express the benefits I have received from the knowledge gained through the study of Christian Science. My whole thought has been changed from despair to joy; my heaven is in the present hour, for now I feel Love's mighty power. Over three years ago I turned to Christian Science. When everything else had failed I turned my tired thoughts to divine Love. I was invited to attend a Christian Science meeting one Wednesday evening, and I shall never forget the hour spent there. I was then suffering from stomach trouble and nervous exhaustion, and was practically a mental and physical wreck, but I knew there was help for me somewhere, and the lives of Christian Scientists had been a benediction to me. I realized that they had a knowledge of something which gave them peace, and I was seeking for that peace.
I can never forget that first testimony meeting, in Ossining, N. Y. A faint hope came to me, and it was the first glimpse of hope and peace that had been mine for months, or perhaps I should say years. I knew Christian Science was the truth spoken of by Christ Jesus, when he said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I was hungering and thirsting, and I was filled. I began the study of Christian Science by getting the text-book from the public library for a month. I read it with understanding from the first, and was surely blessed. I made my first demonstration in purchasing a copy of Science and Health, as it took the last money in my purse to pay for the precious book which brings us a knowledge of the healing power as taught by Christ Jesus; but I trusted to divine Love to supply my needs, and before reaching home I was given employment which brought me twice the amount I had paid out. My material home was taken from me, but I know that my home is in divine Mind, and that nothing can separate me from the loving care of my heavenly Father.
I was healed by the reading of the truth as contained in Science and Health. I was not thinking of physical healing, only looking for spiritual uplifting, but in a short time my friends wanted to know what had cured me, as I was looking so well. Then I knew I was free! I am still striving to reflect Love, as this is the only health-giving power. I am very grateful for God's gift to this day and generation, brought to us by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and I shall strive to show my gratitude by faithful service. My daily prayer is that I may reflect such love that all who come near my life may know I have found the truth as it is in Christ Jesus.—Peekskill, N. Y.
