Testimonies of Healing

[Translated from the German]

When Christian Science found me...

From the December 1912 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When Christian Science found me I was a dissatisfied woman, seeing evil everywhere and laboring under a sense of fear and pride, but in the five years since I became acquainted with Christian Science I have become a very different woman, a better woman, although I realize that there is much yet for me to learn, and many things that I must stop doing; but I also know that I am ascending the steps leading to harmonious being, and I am confident that the higher steps will be reached. The most important feature to me is that I am enabled to grow steadily in the recognition of God's wondrous creation, and that Christian Science is leading me gradually out of the material and up to the spiritual.

I have been healed through the application of this truth in an instance when sudden mental darkness seemed to invade my consciousness. My talk was confused, I was unaware of my doings, and finally completely lost consciousness, this condition, to sense a serious one, lasting for six hours. My husband immediately had Christian Science treatment taken up for me, and I was healed with two treatments. Many minor ailments like violent pain in the head, a chronic cold, chilblains, and eruption of the skin gradually disappeared after treatment was given. Whenever any ailment presents itself I at once strive to realize that God is all-powerful, supreme; above all, that nothing exists beside Him who is Life, Truth, and Love, and then it does not take long for these lesser errors to be overcome. Through the study of the English language I am acquiring a better understanding of our textbook Science and Health, and the German as well as the English services are a source of inspiration and help to me. Christian Science teaches me not only to experience good but to be a dispenser of it as well, and furthermore to know that there is but one source of good, namely, God. Next to Him we give thanks to our dear Mrs. Eddy.—
