Words fail to express my gratitude for the help I have received through Christian Science. From childhood I was weak and sickly, and later on an abdominal trouble set in which kept me in bed for months at a time and necessitated the care of many physicians. Their efforts were, however, of no avail, so I had to submit to a serious operation, which it was hoped would restore me to health. For a year after I felt somewhat relieved, but the trouble then became worse than ever, and I was driven almost to despair. I often felt like blaming God for keeping me alive, and yet I had four children, so one may imagine how sad were the conditions which prevailed in our home. My husband was suffering from rheumatism and at intervals would be bedridden for weeks at a time, his suffering being so great that he cried to God for relief. More than this, our eldest son, who from early childhood had been very nervous, was taken with epileptic fits, when between twelve and fourteen, and the attacks became more frequent and severe as time went on, without any physician from far or near being able to afford help. We tried everything, but without result.
These were times of tribulation in our family, and my husband often talked over our difficulties with a friend. This gentleman, who is a Christian Scientist, advised my husband to attend a Wednesday evening meeting. We followed his advice, and, behold, this first experience filled us with gratitude and brought with it the conviction that what we heard was the truth. I became acquainted with a kind practitioner and asked for treatment, which was given. Our healing was slow but sure, and now after less than two years we are healed with God's help. We know that He is ever present, and sends no evil upon us, but only good. We owe our unspeakable joy and happiness to Christian Science and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—Berlin-Wilmersdorf, Germany.
