As a recent experience of mine may lead some one to the light, I cheerfully give it. Some time ago a growth which had been on my leg for about forty years became malignant. It was then quite large and after a few days the pain became intense. A Christian Science practitioner was asked for help, and within a few days all inflammation was gone and its size had diminished. It seemed that all trouble with it had passed, but again it became inflamed and was very painful. The many times that the various members of my family as well as myself had been blessed through this truth, assured me, however, that there is nothing to fear, and within five weeks from the beginning of treatment there was nothing left to indicate that there had been any trouble, except a discoloration and a thickened condition of the skin. There is now no sign of the growth.
I am deeply grateful to our Master for the truth that his life-work revealed, and also to our beloved Leader for the rediscovery of that truth. Before knowing anything of Christian Science I was an agnostic and had no use for the Bible, because, with my lack of understanding, I could not reconcile the seeming contradictions in it. Now it is my daily companion. I realize the truth of these words by Mrs. Eddy, "To keep the commandments of our Master and follow his example, is our proper debt to him and the only worthy evidence of our gratitude for all that he has done" (Science and Health, p. 4). My great desire is to gain a purer love, a clearer understanding, and a stronger faith, and to demonstrate my gratitude.— Amarillo, Tex.
