Sincere gratitude impels me to testify herewith to the help gained from Christian Science. During a period of four years I suffered with a nervous trouble and mental depression. My household duties, to which I used to attend with pleasure, became burdensome, and this mental condition also affected the members of my family, so that no one who knew of our former harmonious domestic life could account for the change. During the first period I sought and experienced temporary improvement through material means, but gradually this lost its effect, my heart sickened within me, and all buoyancy departed. But "man's extremity is God's opportunity."
I first heard of Christian Science through a friend of our family. I had no faith of there still being help for me, but yielded to the urgent request of my husband, who considered this to be my last anchor of hope. There was no immediate result, but through the patient efforts of a kind practitioner the healing for which I had longed came after a few months, and a sense of happiness and peace displaced the dejection. Sleep returned, I was able to do my work and attend to all my duties, and I did so cheerfully; in fact I cannot describe the feeling of happiness which I experienced after the dark shadows were lifted that had so long encompassed my thought.
Besides the physical healing I am grateful for the great blessing which Christian Science has brought into my life in the spiritual understanding which comes with this true and protecting religion. I hope that with God's help I will gradually attain to a higher discernment, until I shall fully know the truth which makes us free. For the great blessings which I have received through Christian Science I am deeply grateful to God, also to our faithful Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and I am sincerely thankful for the help given me in hours of great tribulation.— Zurich, Switzerland.
