Testimonies of Healing

Trusting that my testimony...

From the September 1912 issue of The Christian Science Journal

TRUSTING that my testimony will be of benefit to others, I feel that I should give it in gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and my family. I have always done work which from its nature necessitates my standing almost constantly, but I was fairly healthy until about three and a half years ago, when my health began to fail. I thought that it was caused by such close confinement and that a change would be of benefit, so I made arrangements to get out of doors and did so; but I constantly grew worse until I was in a deplorable condition. I tried in all six different physicians, but none of them helped me. I also took many medicines with the same result. I had lost flesh very rapidly, had a stomach trouble, could scarcely eat anything with comfort, and was a nervous wreck. For the past eight years I had worn glasses constantly, having to change from one pair to another, according to the work which I was doing. The world looked very dark to me, as I had long thought there was no help for me; and there were times when I actually wished for the end, thinking that I would be free from my suffering.

This was my condition when Christian Science found me in November of 1910. A friend who had been healed in Science advised that I give it a trial. At first it did not appeal to me, but after reading some of the testimonials I rather reluctantly consented. I had always been interested in church work, but there was a feeling of something lacking. Now I know that God is All-in-all, a Father who cares for all His children.

Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I immediately saw that Christian Science is the truth which makes us free. I began studying from the very first with the thought, "Ask, and ye shall receive," and I have been bountifully blessed. I began to improve from the first, and one after another of the troubles left me. In the mean time I had a few weeks' treatment for my eyes, and now they are practically normal. All the former difficulties have vanished, a bad case of hernia along with the rest, something which I had always expected to have with me. From the very first my weight began to improve and today I am a perfectly well man.
