I wish to call attention to a most remarkable demonstration of the healing power of divine Truth, hoping that it may help some one. Three years ago I was stricken with a very severe trouble in my leg. A doctor was treating me for rheumatism by manipulating the spine, and the result was the formation of abscesses, beginning on the knee and finally covering the entire leg. I was taken to a hospital, where three operations were performed, and in a consultation of doctors, amputation was seriously discussed, as being the only means of saving my life. I suffered for ten months, with a nurse in attendance, and the torture was almost unbearable at all times. The abscesses would partly heal, only to break out in other places; then at a point of great depression, when there seemed no hope for my recovery, I decided to appeal to a Christian Science practitioner. I discharged my doctor and forbade the nurse to use any more medicine; she was simply to keep the parts clean.
I was relieved of pain and fever from the first treatment in Christian Science, and within a few days all discharges had ceased, the abscesses began to heal, and when healed remained healed, and after a short season on crutches I regained the full use of my leg. I have enjoyed good health ever since, and my daily prayer is for spiritual strength "and understanding to prove by my work the love and gratitude to God which is in my heart. I am also grateful for our dear Leader, by whose unflinching and unwavering faith we have gained this light.— Portland, Ore.
