I wish to express my deep gratitude for a recent healing in Christian Science. I had been asked to introduce a speaker to a society of children, and while talking to one of the older girls, a piano to be used on this occasion had to be moved. Three or four of the smaller children began to push it, when it swung around, knocking me down with such force that the girl who was talking to me fell under me, and the piano fell across my right foot, remaining there until the janitor could be found. Those about me were crying out to send for a physician ; but I realized that God was my only physician, that He was right there with me, so I refused to allow them to send for material help. Many predictions were made, but I clung steadfastly to the truth that makes free. In about eight minutes, which seemed hours, the janitor came, and with the help of a young man the piano was raised sufficiently to allow me to draw my foot out. I was lifted to a chair and the foot placed on another chair, while the young man offered to take me home in his automobile. I accepted the offer, but all the way I was urged to go to a physician. I then told him I was a Christian Scientist, and he understood the situation.
On arriving home I was taken to my room, and a Christian Science practitioner, who had been sent for, was with me. This was about half past four in the afternoon, and she worked patiently and lovingly for me until after six o'clock. I became quieter and warmer, and by seven o'clock I told her I was entirely free from pain. With a grateful heart I let her go, and when at ten in the evening she called up, she was told that I was absolutely free from pain and was going to sleep. I am confident that if the practitioner had been present at the time the accident occurred, my healing would have been much quicker, and without any manifestation of swelling or discoloration.
This happened on a Thursday; on the following Sunday week I was able to go to church. Wednesday night I went to church by means of the street-cars, and I have never missed a service since. I was soon able to wear my own shoe, and was absolutely healed. Three weeks after this experience I gave this testimony at our Wednesday night meeting. To those who were present this healing seemed wonderful, and as I was well known, many non-Scientists have asked me if I did not use something to ease the pain. This enabled me to offer them "a cup of cold water" in Christ's name, knowing that they too needed this healing truth which makes free from "the law of sin and death."
