About nine years ago I was attacked with a severe stomach trouble, which became alarming. My husband called a doctor, but told him not to bring any medicine. The doctor said it was a malignant disease of the stomach and that there was no cure for it. He kindly said he hoped that God could help me, but that this was the only help. A Christian Science practitioner living in Ontario was then telephoned to, but he asked if I could not go to the town. My husband said he would be only too glad to take me if I were able. By the next day I was prepared for the twenty-four mile journey and reached town at dark. I went to the service the first Sunday, and my husband moved to a farmhouse near town, but I went home in about two weeks.
I was doing well until the summer, when one night I was in need and asked my husband to help me. This he did. The practitioner came out later on, and declared that I must keep better company than diseased thoughts. I went out after he left, and the orchard and fields seemed to be lighted up with a pervading radiance. All was so beautiful that I felt as did Jacob when he said that God was surely in this place.
From then on I gained, and the next year I was able to do my own work. We moved to the West over four years ago, and later I asked for treatment as I thought it necessary; but I am surely learning the need of a more loving thought with less of self-will. We have had many good proofs of the truth of Christian Science in our home, and I can truly say that God has been a present help in time of trouble. I am now enjoying better health than ever before, and I have received great help and encouragement from Mrs. Eddy's writings, also from the Sentinel and Journal. I am very thankful to be spared to the children so many years. I could write much more, but will send this as an expression of gratitude to God and of thankfulness to Mrs. Eddy for this wonderful truth.—Borden, Saskatchewan, Canada.
