I have long delayed to send my testimony acknowledging my gratitude for Christian Science. Since childhood I had suffered from nervousness, and as I grew older I had many attacks of illness with extreme depression, often being incapacitated for months, although I tried every remedy within my reach, including physical culture. My doctors were very kind, but any improvement experienced lasted only a short time, when I was down again. By what seemed chance, but was surely God's leading, Christian Science was brought to my notice, and a copy of Science and Health was loaned me. I eagerly read it, but did not understand very much until it was lovingly and untiringly explained to me by a Christian Science practitioner; then little by little, with occasional treatment, I was led from darkness into light, and the understanding thus gained, though very small, brought healing, for which I am grateful.
The first instance of healing was in the case of my little girl, whose ankles were so weak that surgical boots were being made for her. While speaking to a practitioner about it, she declared the truth, telling me that God's child was already perfect. The healing must have been instantaneous, as a few days later I noticed that the feet were quite straight, and they have been so ever since; in fact, she is a good little walker for quite long distances. Needless to say, she never wore the boots.
When my first child was born, my suffering was extreme. Instruments had to be used, the doctor saying I could never have a child otherwise, and his words were verified when the second child was born. In the meantime I heard of Christian Science, and received Christian Science treatment at the birth of my third child. No instruments were needed, the birth was quick, with very little pain, and I was soon about my usual household duties. The baby is now a robust little girl of five years, who has never known any other remedy than the truth.
