I wish to tell of some of the blessings I have received through the study of Christian Science. I had been an invalid for about twenty-five years, taking medicine every day. I suffered from what several physicians pronounced inflammation of the nerves, brought on from female trouble, and they said I would never be well. I also had a chronic bowel disorder, and granulated eyelids which had bothered me for twenty-five years, often becoming inflamed and making it necessary for me to stay in a dark room for weeks. This was also said to be incurable.
In the year 1908 a deep sorrow came to me, as I lost both my mother and my husband inside of two weeks. Being left alone, I broke up my home and came to Indianapolis to live with relatives. They put me under the care of their family physician, but after almost a year of treatment I suffered a nervous collapse. I was much worse, and the doctor told my relatives if something was not done soon it would be too late. I was in a desperate state of mind and did not know what to do. My brother-in-law, knowing what it had done for others, advised me to try Christian Science. I felt that my only hope was in God, and I knew if He healed others He could heal me.
When I commenced taking Christian Science treatment I was able to sit up only a short time each day; in fact, for twenty-five years I had been able to sit up only a few hours each day. After taking two or three treatments I began to improve, and with the eighth I sat up all day. At the end of four weeks I was healed of the physical trouble and my grief. In five weeks I was healed of the eye trouble and gave up glasses which I had used for thirty years (the oculist said I would never be able to see any better) . I have never worn them since, and I now use my eyes freely.
