In love and thankfulness to God, and gratitude to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I wish to tell of some of the benefits which I have received from Christian Science. I was healed by reading Science and Health. From childhood I had scarcely known a well day. When only three years old I fell and broke my right arm. The attending physician came three days in succession with instruments to take it off, as the bones were decaying and some of them came out. The arm was three inches shorter than the other, and I do not think any one ever looked at it without saying he did not see how I could use it.
It was this that caused me to take up the study of Christian Science over two years ago, as I could not use my arm very much without suffering pain, and I passed many sleepless nights because of it. I had a great fear that I could not stand the pain much longer, and that the arm would have to be amputated; but I found God to be the best surgeon as well as great Physician, and I am now able to do all my house-work, except washing, and I help my husband every day in the store, doing my writing with this hand without any pain.
Previous to taking up the study of Christian Science I had undergone three surgical operations, and was told that I would have to submit to another; but since the last one was not a success, I thought it useless to go through the same thing again. After a few months' study of the Bible, and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I was healed of this ailment. I have also been freed from the necessity of using glasses, which I had worn almost six years. I had been told by an oculist I would have to wear them all my life. I had been obliged to put them on the first thing in the morning and keep them on until I retired at night, but one morning when I got up my eyes felt so well the thought came to me that if God could heal the pain in my arm, He could also heal the pain in my eyes, and I no longer needed glasses. I was instantaneously healed of the habit of worry and discontent.
