Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (p. 494). I have proved that to be a fact in every case since coming into a knowledge of Christian Science. I am so glad that there is no seeming difficulty that I cannot take to God. I first heard of Christian Science four years ago, but did not begin to believe in it fully, until I saw the remarkable benefit received in the healing of a relative's child. This little one had tuberculosis of the spine and was strapped to a bed in a hospital for some months. Several physicians had said that she would never walk again. As a result of Christian Science treatment, however, she is now entirely well, and can run and do as other children do.
When I heard of Christian Science, I had been suffering for twenty years from some stomach disorder. At times I was unable to eat, and when I did eat the pain was almost unbearable, until life was scarcely worth living. I had also suffered from a chronic throat affection from early childhood, and when I had attacks of this illness I was often unable to eat for days at a time—I could not swallow even water. I had also suffered from nervous breakdown, and a very distressing bladder trouble, which at first came only in spells, but became so bad that two physicians had told me I would have to submit to a slight operation. It was then that I applied to a Christian Science practitioner and was healed in three present and two absent treatments. The healing has been permanent. Since gaining a better understanding of the truth, I have been able to make many demonstrations, one of which was over an injured ankle and a broken toe. Both conditions were overcome in less than a week.
I am indeed grateful for the spiritual uplift and a better understanding of God and the Bible, and I find that when I adhere to the demands of divine Principle, I am always able to make demonstrations. Mere words can never express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for giving Christian Science to the world through her wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures;" and I want to show my gratitude daily by helping my brother man into this knowledge of the truth that makes men free.— Washington, D.
