Early in January, 1912, while we were finishing our new home, I was taken with severe cramps in my stomach, so called painters' colic, and intense inward fever accompanied by chills. After rising one morning, feeling ill, I made an attempt at getting breakfast. I asked my husband for water, and after drinking it I immediately sank to the floor in an unconscious condition. He lifted me up, seemingly lifeless, carried me into another room, then hastened to call a Christian Science practitioner. Relief came at once, and I revived.
This was evidently a case of poisoning from the fumes of wood alcohol, etc., with which I had been working in closed rooms. I will say right here that my husband thought at first that life was extinct. Later in the day, when drinking some water, I again sank into unconsciousness, and again the practitioner was called. She came to the house and gave me treatment, and in less than an hour I sat up, healed. I could then drink all the water I wanted, free from pain and distress. This was further evidence of Truth's all power. The following day my mouth peeled off inside and I seemed to go through a complete chemicalization, but I ate freely of food, was able to drink all the water I wanted, and have been perfectly well ever since.
