During nearly fourteen years my life has been governed by Christian Science as taught by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy. It found me in 1898. As a young man a splendid opportunity was given to me, but like many others, it was not improved as it might have been. Christian Science has, however, taught me that the day of opportunity is today and always, here and now. It has enabled me to make demonstrations in my business that have been of the greatest value.
The benefits which have come from this knowledge of Christian Science have meant to me the difference between success and failure. The knowledge that one's duty is well done is a treasure which can be realized only by experience. Careless and indifferent effort is what generally brings failure.
The happiness of knowing it to be my God given inheritance to do and to give nothing but the best work, has come through Christian Science. From it we also learn that man is God's image and likeness, and anything less than the best service of which we are capable would dishonor God. A "radical reliance on Truth" (Science and Health, p. 167) has shown me that the power of God does heal, save, protect, and defend here and now. I have had many proofs of this, but will relate only one.
