Testimonies of Healing

I would like to tell something of...

From the March 1914 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I would like to tell something of what Christian Science has accomplished in our family. After suffering for three years, and during that time trying a number of physicians, including specialists, my husband as a last resort turned to Christian Science and was healed of a very distressing nervous disease, which seemed to affect the stomach and heart, in fact the entire body. While his healing was not accomplished all at once, and though it seemed slow, yet there was a gradual building up of the system, and he is now in the enjoyment of good health. Where melancholy once seemed to exist, cheerfulness has taken its place, and the world has a brighter outlook.

Through the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, my husband was healed of a badly injured ankle. In the fall of 1911 he was bitten by a poisonous spider. Two hypodermic injections failed to relieve entirely the intense suffering, a doctor having been called on account of our not being able to get a Christian Science practitioner at once; but within an hour after the practitioner reached our home, my husband was able to sit up, in a short time the suffering was entirely overcome, and in a few days he was able to be at work again. In many ways I have been helped by Christian Science,—in severe attacks of cold, also in stomach and female trouble,—and I have found it a very great help with my two children in overcoming whooping cough, croup, colds, mumps, and other ailments.

Beyond the physical healing, Christian Science has been a great help to me spiritually. As this healing truth began to dawn upon my consciousness, I found a great weight lifted; it has destroyed in me a sense of fear and worry, and brought a peace and understanding regarding God and Christianity that I never possessed before. For all the blessings we have experienced in Christian Science we desire to express thankfulness to God, and gratitude to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—
