It is with a grateful heart that I wish to tell of some of the blessings which have been brought into my life through Christian Science, as well as of its healing power. I had suffered greatly for about ten years from an organic disease which the physicians said was caused by congestion and displacement of internal organs. I had been treated by many physicians, both in the East and West, and had taken all kinds of medicines supposed to cure such diseases. I had also undergone an operation which caused me untold suffering and was a very expensive one as well, but which left me worse than before. The doctors did all they could, but they all failed even to relieve my suffering. I had lost all faith in everything, had thrown away all medicines, and was despondent, wondering why God had so afflicted me.
When I heard of Christian Science for the first time, there were only two or three Scientists in our town. I went to the home of one of these and asked for treatment, which the lady gladly and lovingly gave me. She also advised me to get a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I did so, and began its study with an earnest desire to understand it.
With the reading of that wonderful book, which to me is priceless, and also with a few treatments at different times from the practitioner, I was healed in three months, absolutely and completely! But that is only one of the many blessings I have received. For the physical healing I am indeed grateful, but words cannot express my gratitude for the spiritual awakening, and for the better understanding of God and our relation to Him which Mrs. Eddy has given us. The fact that God is man's Life and that He is ever present and all powerful, that He is not the author of sickness, sin, or death, gives one a sense of protection and peace which nothing can ever take away.
